This Is Awkward

Sun Jan 15, 2006, 10:48 PM
I have decided to promote a friend's website about awkward moments and stories. www.thisisawkward.com [link] Warning: Some stories on this site are for mature readers. You have been warned.

This is my own story. It will be featured in a couple of days.

"On the third day of being a set photographer for a student film, I was asked If I wanted anything from Tim Horton's (a famous canadian coffee shop) I answered "Sure, I want whatever it is I'm smelling". Nobody had a clue what I was talking about. I felt very out of place having to insist on having "whatever smells so good".

What I thought was a box of raspberry danishes was actually the perfume scent of an attractive script supervisor (strawberry I later found out). She was standing right in front of me, along with 10 other people I barely even knew.

I tried to explain myself ... but that just made things worse.

Awkward."

Phototographer's Rules (1941)

Tue Jan 3, 2006, 2:07 PM
A brief passage from The Photographer's Rule Book second ed. 1941.

1. Take pictures only on clear days when the sun is shining.
2. Take pictures only between nine-thirty and eleven o'clock in the morning and between one o'clock and two thirty in the afternoon.
3. Stand at least six feet away from your subject. (Six feet is about three normal strides for a man; four for a woman.)
...
Pictures of the family are the sort of thing that most of us want to try first. Start with the Father (or Grandfather), because he will hold still better than the children, and he won't be quite so critical of first shots as Mother might be.

Don't forget to load your Plenachrome film ;)

Has anyone in history...

...been satisfied with their website server? This is a serious question.

(You thought I was going to say something important, but I didn't)

605 unread messages. I'm going to be busy for a while. :work:

$lolly featured me saying "What do you get when you find someone who has a huge passion for the community and a love of working with others? You get Avatar Mosaic 1K by ~D-V Over a thousand avatars comprise this amazing group effort!"

Thanks lolly for the DD on Deviantart's 5th birthday.
